Community Action Commission Mission Statement
The Community Action Commission is dedicated to providing high-quality, culturally appropriate services and opportunities for low-income people of all ages as they maintain or achieve self-sufficiency while retaining their dignity and self-esteem.
Organized under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, the Community
Action Commission of Santa Barbara County (CAC) is the County’s
designated agency to serve the needs of the low-income community.
Since its incorporation in 1967, CAC has grown to become one of
the county’s largest private, non-profit social service agencies,
with an annual operating budget of over $23 million. CAC currently
employs approximately 400 people countywide, and provided services
to more than 10,000 low-income individuals and families.
